Lil Uzi Vert didn’t leave fans completely hanging.
At midnight Friday, the Philadelphia rapper came through with his new track “Demon High.” Uzi announced the release on his Instagram page on Thursday night, just hours before he took the stage at Rolling Loud New York in Queens.
The drop came as a pleasant surprise for Uzi stans, who had spent the past several weeks anticipating his Pink Tape project. The rapper has been teasing the effort since late 2020, and previously told fans it would arrive before Halloween. However, he ultimately decided to delay the release to ensure it was up to his standards.
Uzi shared the disappointing news during a recent run-in with fans.
“No it’s not,” he said when asked if Pink Tape would arrive before October’s end. “Then it drops next week and then it sounds like shit and I gotta hear it from—well not from you—but I gotta hear it from 100,000 people on the internet saying, ‘This sucks!’ So you gotta let me take my time … I’m taking my time so it won’t suck.”
Uzi has not indicated when Pink Tape is expected to drop, or whether his new track will appear on the project. While we wait for more information, you can stream “Demon High” now on all major platforms.
