Are Scallops Toxic To Dogs?

Scallops can be toxic to dogs if they eat them raw, or if they have been cooked incorrectly. Raw scallops can cause shellfish poisoning in dogs which can lead to brain swelling, seizures, and even death. If your dog accidentally ate raw scallops you should contact your vet as soon as possible.

The best way to avoid giving your dog shellfish poisoning is by feeding it properly cooked scallops. You can either boil scallops on the stove, bake them in the oven, or smoke them on the grill for your dog. However you should never fry scallops for your dog because they are full of fat from the grease and can cause digestive issues for your pet.
