By India Today Web Desk: India's star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was hospitalised after surviving a major car accident while he was returning from Delhi to Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar told India Today that Pant was driving his Mercedes car that caught fire after hitting the divider at the Narsan border. Pant claimed he lost control of the car after falling asleep while driving, according to the Director General of Police in Uttarakhand.

Pant was alone in the car when it collided with a divider on the road and caught fire. He suffered injuries to his head, back and leg. The 25-year-old, who was going to his home in Roorkee, was taken to a local hospital. He suffered injuries to his head, back and feet but is in stable condition.
"Cricketer Rishabh Pant is under the observation of Orthopedics & plastic surgeons. His condition is stable. His detailed medical bulletin will be released once he's examined. Thereafter, we'll take the next steps," Dr. Ashish Yagnik, Max Hospital, Dehradun, said, addressing the media.
According to the doctors, Pant suffered injuries to his forehead and leg. After getting the information, Superintendent of Police Dehat Swapna Kishore Singh reached the spot. Dr. Sushil Nagar, chairman of Saksham Hospital, said that at present Rishabh Pant's condition is stable, he has been referred to Max Dehradun.
According to eyewitnesses, Rishabh's car collided with the railing and caught fire. With great difficulty, the fire was brought under control. Simultaneously, Rishabh Pant, who was severely injured in the accident, was taken to Saksham Hospital on Delhi Road.
Pant not included for the Sri Lanka series
Rishabh Pant was left out of India's squads for both the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. The BCCI press release did not specify whether Pant was injured, rested, or dropped. The Delhi wicketkeeper did not play in the one-day internationals against Bangladesh because the BCCI decided to rest him ahead of the two-match Test series.
Pant was left out of the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka beginning on January 3 as he was supposed to join the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for strength and conditioning programme ahead of February's Border Gavaskar Trophy. Pant has scored 2,271 runs in 33 Tests so far with the help of five hundreds and 11 fifties. He has also represented the country in 30 ODIs and 66 T20Is.
